Exposure to Treponema pallidum Infection among Adolescent and Young Adult Women in Roraima, Amazon Region of Brazil

Background: Syphilis is a chronic infectious disease, and its prevalence has been described since the 15th century. Because of high this infection in Brazil, study aimed to evaluate syphilis associated factors among adolescent young women living city Boa Vista, Roraima, Brazil. Methods: The present was cross-sectional, descriptive, analytical quantitative. It involved 200 women. Laboratory tests were performed diagnose syphilis, sociodemographic epidemiological questionnaire employed. Results: In studied sample, 10 had positive result for characterizing 5% with Treponema pallidum. There statistically significant association between monthly family income less than 1 minimum wage (p = 0.0449) illicit drug use 0.0234). Conclusions: These results indicate need public health interventions, action plans, implementation risk reduction strategies focused on population.
